Football and xit Kodi are sacrosant for Goans. So after the shock over match fixing in Goans football finally the Goa Football Association is setting up an enquiry committee into match fixing in the Goa professional league. AFC had earlier pulled out the red card for nearly 6 matches of Goa Professional league alleging that they were tainted. The investigation has zeroed on to many player and teams – many of them famous.

Asian Football Confederation had red flagged six matches of the Goa Professional League a few months ago alleging that there were indications of match fixing. The AFC had written to the integrity officer of AIFF, Javed Siraj, in March informing about "suspicious betting patterns indicative of match manipulation" in six matches held between October 16 and November 19 last year. Finally GFA has agreed to set up an enquiry into this matter.

Matches that were suspected to be scripted  allegedly involve teams like Calangute Association, Panjim Footballers, Guardian Angel Sports Club, FC Goa II and former I-League sides Dempo SC, Salgaocar and Sporting Clube de Goa.

Congress has alleged that sports minister has appointed his brother on the two sports bodies and has also given him the plum position of Vice Chairman of GFDC sidelining eminent footballers like Bruno Coutinho Lectar Mascarenhas, former Navelim MLA & footballer Avertano Furtado and others. The appointment of Dr. Shrikant Ajgaonkar as Director of GTDC may be part of the strategy of the Sports Ministers to facilitate his foreign tours in connection with the match fixing deals, they alleged.
