A win against Dempo SC would have taken Salgaokar FC to the top once again. However, they were held to a draw by Dempo Sports Club and the game ended in a nil – nil draw. This was no 28 of the Selvel Goa professional league played at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa.

It was a hard fought derby and within 10 minutes of the kickoff the Golden Eagles - Dempo SC took a potshot at the goal. But Salgaocars Goalkeeper Jason stood tall. Salgaonkar made a early substitute in the 28th minute, u/20 Philip Pavzis was replaced by Fhezer Gomes. Both the teams created 4 chances each but failed to execute and scoreboard remained blank until the half time whistle.

In the second half, Salgaonkar started to dominate and had a golden opportunity to take the lead, but could not convert. Salgaocars made their second sub at the 61st minute. Aaron Barreto was replaced by Steflon D Costa. The Dempo replaced Shubham Malvankar with Alber Gonsalves in the 68th minute. After a collision in the Dempos left wing, the referee flashed his yellow card to both Latesh Mandrekar of Dempo and Robhav Sardesai of Salgaonkar in the 73rd minute. Former ISL and I league star in Dempo SC Simranjeet Singh was brought in place of captain Beevan Dmello. This was the last sub of Dempos SC for the evening.

The last 15 minutes for the match were completely dominated by the Golden Eagles. Salgaonkar in the final throw of the dice made their last substitution in the 79th minute as Malappa Harippa made his come back in place of Fhezer Gomes.
