Goa to host Manohar Parrikar Intl' Chess Championship

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the state government will organise an International Chess Championship in memory of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. He also announced that 10 outstanding sportspersons would be supported by government every year.

Chief Minister announced this scheme and government plans during a motion moved by BJP MLA Nilkant Halankar to congratulate sportspersons like Sohan Ganguly, Shrungi Bandekar, Meghan Almeida, Maya Shanbag in Swimming and Diving. These Goans have not only made Goa proud but also India proud.
