‘Scrap 75% compulsory attendance in colleges’

The system of 75 per cent compulsory attendance in colleges should be scrapped. Merely getting percentages by reading text books is not education.



The competitive world today demands wide range of talent which cannot be attained by merely attending classes. Event a simple requirement like patience is the biggest quality in today’s IT world.


This was the opinion expressed by Goa365 consulting editor Sandesh Prabhudesai at a function organised by Artha Publication from Canacona on the occasion of the anniversary of Konkani getting included in eighth schedule of Indian constitution in 1992. He also told the audience how IT professional Vivek Mordekar was selected at a prestigious IT firm Tally in Bangalore.


Mallikarjun College principle Manoj Kamat, Konkani Parishad president Usha Rane, senior writer Kamlakar Mhalshi, Vivek Mordekar, Jhon Melvin Afonso and Vithoba Velip were present on the occasion. Bhonvddi, a collection of one act plays by Vithoba Velip was also released.

Brother John Afonso and Vivek Mordekar were conferred with Devotional Service award and best activist award on this occasion. A day-long programme was also held with poetry recitations from children to elders.
