Shiv Jayanti celebrated all over Goa; twice in Ponda

Shiv Jayanti, birth anniversary of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was celebrated across Goa. Various programs were held across the state. Ironically, in Ponda, there were two Shiv Jayanti programs held. And both in the same place but at different times.

The Shiv Jayanti celebration at Ponda witnessed political drama. Bandora panchayat boycotted the official Shiv Jayanti event organised by the government at which were present Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gawade and Ravi Naik took part in it. Later, they organised another Shiv Jayanti celebration at which the Dhavlikar brothers present.

 A special program was held at Mormugao fort on Shiv Jayanti. Bicholkars too celebrated Shiv Jayanthi.
