Heavy rainfall would be lashing Goa for the next five days, says the MET Department. IMD Goa has predicted heavy rainfall till 12th of August.

Strong winds with speed reaching 50-60 km/hr are likely to prevail over south west and adjoining west-central Arabian sea from 8th to 12th, says IMD.

IMD said that sustaining high wind speeds at surface level has weakened over Goa.

But the wind speeds at around 1.5km above mean sea level is still around 25kts and likely to continue for 24 hours more.

Hence there is still probability of heavy 6-11cm rainfall in 24 hrs to very heavy rainfall around 12cm in next 24hrs at a few locations in Goa.

Regions such as ghat sections and vulnerable areas should be kept under watch, it advised.

IMD also said there is possibility of a new low pressure area formation over the Bay of Bengal by around 9th August.
