Government to cover coal dumps with domes

Now, in what could be said is a damage control exercise, the government wants to cover coal dumps with dome so as to minimize dust pollution.

Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godhino said on Friday that coal pollution is an issue for elections. He says that coal dust had entered in the houses of people for maybe one day and this is due to heavy winds.

He claims that roadside dust is also creating problems in vicinity and it is misunderstood as coal dust. The people in port town have had to face menace of coal pollution for a long time.

The coal dust has settled on the trees and even in the houses of locals. There have been a lot of protests from locals but issue is still not sorted out.
