Goa gears up to prevent Malaria, Dengue

Monsoon has finally arrived. And with that, the health department has also pulled up its sleeves. It has taken up a statewide campaign on how to prevent vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, typhoid, cholera etc. No cases detected so far. But precaution is better than cure.



The Director of Health Service has kept surveillance on vector-borne diseases during the monsoon. It has started detecting malaria patients and giving them immediate treatment to stop its spread. Department has started identifying mosquito breeding sites and larvae or eggs are destroyed immediately. Primary Health Centre at Balli has also started the prevention of vector-borne diseases.



Including screening of the laborers and cleanliness drive. The Cutbona fishing jetty is said to be the hub of vector-borne diseases. Health center has already started the surveillance there. Healthway hospitals gave monsoon mantras to stay healthy during monsoon. Healthway MD for medicine Dr. Vinay Naik explained the precautionary measures to avoid cold, fever, dengue malaria etc.
