Don't violate Constitution & impose censors on dramas: Dr Vazarikar

Dr Prakash Vazarikar, a creative writer has strongly objected to the conditions laid down by Rajiv Kala Mandir for a drama competition. He says it's like curtailing freedom of expression and is a violation of Constitution of India.



He has also objected to the wrong depiction of Goan woman at the Diwaja Circle in Panaji city. 


He said Diwaja Circle is wrong depiction of our tradition. "Women there are show carrying not the traditional Diwaj but the Mallem, which women traditionally don't carry." he stated 

Dr Vazarikar spoke at length at the silver jubilee function of a unique programme called Sankal Dis, celebrated in the Keri village of Sattari on the eve of New Year.

Creative writers, artists, activists, academicians and other people from Sattari assemble every year and celerbate New Year Night as a Festival of Light.

The function held in the courtyard of Gopinath Gawas also felicitated Pandurang Gawas and Namdev Gawas at the hands of veteran writer Somnath Komarpant.

Vice Chairman of Madgao Ravindra Bhavan Saiesh Palondikar and Keri Sarpanch Laxman Gawas were also present.

Goa's two eminent journalists Pandurang Gaokar and Ganesh Shetkar, who are originally from Sattari, were interviewed.

People also enjoyed Gazal singing by Prakash Desai and his group as well as Jugalbandi of classical and traditional instruments.
