Cortalim farmers say no to decrease in agriculture subsidy

19 Oct 2019 05:55 PM

The Cortalim farmers wants the government not to decrease the subsidy on agriculture from 75 percent to 50 percent.

Cortalim ZP member Anton Vas, a farmer by occupation, said the government should instead give additional incentives and more subsidy.

But if subsidy is decreased farmers might get discouraged and stop farming.

President of Cortalim Farmers Club Anton Vas was speaking during function organised by Velsao Pale Xetkarancho Association after Cortalim Farmers club provided free harvesting machines to around 135 farmers in Velsao.

He said there are around 600 farmers in Cortalim and they harvest crops in two seasons.

If the subsidy is reduced, even farmers clubs trying to help farmers cannot survive.
