Chicalim Panchayat drafts own CZMP plan, scraps Govt plan

Chicalim Panchayat has becomes the first Panchayat to draft their own CZMP plans and resolve to submit to the Govt to incorporate in main CZMP Plan. The decision was taken on sunday during the gram sabha.

  Chicalim is the first village in Goa to propose their own CZMP plan taking into consideration the various features of the locals- rich biodiversity, heritage, mangrove sites, fishing villagers, fish breeding sites, natural breeding sites of window pane oysters and the fishing as well as tribal settlements in the village. While rejecting the CZMP plan proposed by Dept of Environment, the Gram Sabha unanimously resolved that the Goa Govt send this proposed plan of the Chicalim villagers to MoEF for incorporating the same in the overall CZMP plan of Goa.
