Cancona garbage issue: hunger strike to continue

19 Jun 2018 07:44 PM

The hunger strike over the mismanagement of the garbage treatment plants and the filthy conditions will continue for the next two days.

And if the authorities still do not heed Canconkars then the agitation would become an indefinite hunger strike.

This is a warning by the voluntary organisation Jagrut Canconkar who are on a hunger strike outside the Canacona Municipal Council even after authorities are promising full cooperation.

On Tuesday, the leader of opposition Babu Kavlekar and MLA Reginaldo Lourenco visited the striking Canconkars and expressed their support.

Locals are protesting that for many days there has been no door-to-door collection of garbage in over 10 wards as the garbage treatment plant at Dhumane is not working
