Babu denies Sopte allegation on tourism leases

The Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar said that till date no Tourism land or hotel has been given out on lease to anybody.



But he admitted that Miramar and Colva were in the process of being leased out. He was replying to demands on Tourism and countering allegations that the Tourism department had leased out various projects to people from outside the state. 

Sopte wanted to know how nearly 53,000 sq meter and various other tourism projects were given on long lease to parties from out of state in the name of tourism and development. He also criticized the government for the lack of toilets on various beaches. .

Sopte said that the works taken under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme the works were initiated but not completed. He alleged that nearly all the works are still pending but earlier reports shows that the work was complete, the latest reports show that they were incomplete.  He questioned how.

Sopte also questioned of the cost of foreign trips of the sports minister and tourism minister. This was tongue and cheek denied by the minister. While the tourism minster denied all the allegations made by Mandrem MLA.
