This is a statement made by none other than Goa’s former chief minister and three-time MLA of Mandrem Laxmikant Parsekar.

Parsekar was speaking at the inaugural function of 19^th Konkani Yuva Sammelan held in his Harmal Pachakroshi Educational Institute at Harmal.

He made special mention of Opinion Poll held in 1967. At that time, 74 per cent of voters from Mandrem had voted in favour of the merger.

And 68 per cent in Pedne. Hardly around 26 to 30 per cent had opposed the merger.

But after 53 years, Parsekar feels situation has changed upside down.
