Vasco fishing community celebrate St Peter's feast

The feast of Saint Peter, the patron saint of the fishing community, was celebrated in Vasco on Monday with religious fervour and gaiety. On the occasion, the parish priest of Our Lady of Desterro church blessed the sea and the fishing canoes.

The fishing community from Khariwado, Non Mon, Pixem-Dongri decorated their fishing canoes with colourful balloons, coconut palms and flowers. Goa Fishing Boat Owners Association  president Jose Philip D'Souza said that they are carrying out the tradition of their ancestors. He said there are  few people because of the pandemic .
