Govt yet to come up with security offer: Vasco parish priest

The churches in Goa are on alert in the wake of recent terror attacks in Sri Lanka.



Vasco parish priest has said Goa Archbishop has directed parish priests to beef up security around churches.


Vasco PI has however said police are already providing security to the churches. Vasco parish priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho had requested the government to provide security to churches but he said the government is yet to come up with an offer. Fr Coutinho said acting on the directions of the Archbishop safety measures will be put in place, including CCTV cameras around the church.


Vasco PI Nilesh Rane said security has already been tightened up near religious structures. He said police have also increased patrolling at nights in remote areas across the port town.
