Zantye & Shet cross swords in Mayem

Zilla Panchayat elections have also become a battleground within the BJP. In Mayem, BJP is alleging that the independent candidate fielded by their former MLA Anant Shet is claiming that he is the BJP candidate. But Shet has refuted this allegation. Even chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant got dragged into the controversy.

Former speaker Anant Shet was sidelined by BJP during 2017 elections, giving ticket to former Congressman Pravin Zantye.

Shet had then revolted but was later pacified.

Now, he has fielded his brother Premanand against Zantye’s official BJP Shankar Chodankar.

Meanwhile, BJP candidate of Sanvordem Suvarna Tendulkar has started door-to-door campaign and also corner meetings.

One such meeting was also addressed by PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and BJP Mahila Morcha President Sulakshana Sawant.

Congress ZP candidate Murtuza Kuknoor for Davorlim constituency began his door-to-door campaign in full swing.
