Open cases against Francis Pereira: Congress

Congress has alleged that BJP government has dropped all the cases against the accused in desecration cases Francis Pereira. One case was dropped even before it came up for hearing. Congress has demanded to reopen the cases against Pereira.

Francis Pereira was allegedly involved in desecration of Catholic religious statues and crosses.

GPCC General Secretary Agnelo Fernandes said one case was evidently covered up.

Ten such cases were registered against Francis and special investigation team was also formed to probe them.

Francis had also alleged that he was pressurised by ruling BJP MLA to admit he was the culprit.

Nine cases against Francis have already been dropped by the prosecution and 10^th case was schedule for trial.

However, on Thursday this case was dropped before coming for trial.
