The Congress and Goa Suraksha Manch on Saturday objected to the governments decision to spend around Rs 100 crores for the states 60 year liberation day celebration.

The opposition pointed out that the state was in the midst of a pandemic and the money could be better utilized for the betterment of the people.

The chief minister on Friday had announced a grand programme to celebrate the states 60th Liberation anniversary.

He had said that the state would get 100 crore rupees from the centre for its various programmes.

GSM youth president Nitin Faldesai said that the money could be better utilized for developmental projects, education sector, health infrastructure and such things.

On the other hand, Opposition leader Digambar Kamat of the Congress said that it was important that the Chief Minister first release Rs. 100 crores as Economic Revival Package to liberate the marginalized sector from the huge financial burden and losses suffered by them due to outbreak of Covid Pandemic and collapse of economy.
