Sancoale villagers demand ward reservation for ST

The issue of reservations of wards has started making waves with one month left for panchayat elections. On Sunday, Sancoale residents met Cortalim MLA Anton Vas demanding that the ward one should be reserved for Schedule Tribe.

The villagers submitted a memorandum to Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas demanding ST reservation in ward 1 in Sancoale panchayat. Locals said in the past the ward 1 used to be always reserved for ST. But in 2017 panchayat elections no reservations were made for ST in Sancaole village. The past reservation method should not be repeated again and this time ward 1 should be reserved for ST community, locals demanded.

MLA Anton Vas said he would follow up this matter with the Chief Minister and concerned officials.
