The opposition Congress tore into the government for high fuel prices, saying that the reason was the high VAT charged even as the rates went up again on Thursday.

The crude oil price has dropped to 50 US dollar from 105 dollor which was during Congress rule.

However, the rates then were lower as the Congress charge less tax.

Congress also reminded BJP that they had promised 65 rupees fuel to 30 rupees before coming to power.

GPCC vice-president Sankalp Amonkar said fuel prices are about to hit century.

The fuel hike directly affects common man and poor as they have to spend give 25% their salary for the fuel which shakes their budget, he said.
