Goa bids farewell to Vishnu Wagh

State has bid adieu to the Former deputy speaker and noted litterateur Vishnu Vagh with State honor at Ponda Municipal crematorium on Sunday.



Vishu Wagh passed away due to brief illness on 8th February at Cape Town in South Africa. He was bought down to Goa during the wee hours of Sunday. His mortal remains were kept at Dayanand Bandodkar ground in Ponda for public to pay respect. Vishu Wagh cadaver arrived Goa at Dabolim international airport at around 2.45 in morning. His body was received by Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, DySP Sunita Sawant and his brother Ramrao Vagh. Later, Vagh's cadaver was taken to his native home in Dhavli. It was kept at his home till morning 8.45 and was shifted to Dayanand Bandodkar ground to conduct final rites and also to pay respect by public. A pandal was erected for people to assemble and Wagh's poems were played. At around 3.30 Goa Police gave Vishnu guard of honor and his procession was carried out towards Ponda crematorium by singing religious hymns. He was later cremated as per Hindu religious ceremony.
