No illegal mining at Shirgao, claims Bicholim mamlatdar

There is no illegal mining going on at Shirgao mine, according to Bicholim mamlatdar. While he inspected the mine to verify, he also claimed that the local complainants have also agreed to the fact.

The mining company has stopped paying water bills of the locals of Shirgao while the wells have gone dry in the whole mining village of Bicholim taluka.

Locals had stopped the trucks carrying ore from the Shirgao mine. Later, they had complained to the Mamlatdar about illegal mining.

Accordingly, Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit inspected the mine on Tuesday along with local sarpanch. He has also convened a joint meeting to sort out the issue of water bills.
