Goa’s ruling politicians have still not given up though centre has rejected the proposal of issuing ordinance on mining act.

Union minister Shripad Naik has said the issue would be sorted out in the next 15 days.

And Speaker Pramod Sawant has told the mining dependents that they would meet central leaders by next week.

But it is not known what Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has decided in his high level meetings held on Thursday late evening.

As soon as the news reached Goa that centre will not issue ordinance to amend the MMDR Act, Chief Minister Parrikar tweeted late evening that he had several meetings with the stakeholders as well as his officials to decide the next step.

However, till now the CMO has not announced what decision is taken at the government level.

Thousands of angry mining dependents marched to Speaker Pramod Sawant at Ravindra Bhavan in Sankhli on Friday morning. He was literally gheraoed by them.

Their leader Puti Gaonkar said Sawant has assured them that they would meet the central leaders by next week.

The media persons caught hold of union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik at a Yoga function and asked him what steps they are taking.

Meanwhile, Vasco-based NCP state President Jose Philip D’ Souza slammed the BJP government for giving fake assurances to the people and using them during election.

Barge Owners’ Association President Raymond D’Sa said amending the MMDR Act is the only solution.
