Arrears for pensioners were not given for last 18 months. Now union leader Keshav Prabhu on Wednesday met Labour Commissioner asking him to intervene in the matter.

However, the MMC chief officer Agnelo Fernandes has a different view. He says that employee must concentrate on work instead of wasting time on such agitations, especially as their demands were met in a recent council meeting. Here's the story.

A strike notice was initially issued. But this was deferred on the request of the commissioner.

The meeting is supposed to be held on 12th December. But an ultimatum has been given to the MMC that all issues have to be solved by 10th January failing which employees would go on a indefinite strike, Prabhu said.

Refuting workers allegations, CO said that the coucil has marginally increased all the allowances as discussed at a council meeting on 26th November.
