Madgao Municipal Council has begun to clean up SGPDA’s wholesale fish market of Madgao.

This biggest wholesale fish market of Goa run by South Goa Planning and Development Authority was lying in neglected state.

And its gutters were not cleaned up for many years.

Madgao municipal chief officer Siddhivinayak Naik had conducted a joint inspection of the whole sale fish market with officials of the SGPDA on Thursday.

He asked the South Goa planning body to deposit one lakh rupees with the civic body so as to carry out the cleaning work of the drains.

The drains were choked with plastic waste and fish waste.

The civic body has begun clearing the drains using an earth mover.
