It’s a first death anniversary of former chief minister and defense minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday. And on the eve of it, a petition has been filed in the high court, seeking a stay on the Samadhi being built at Miramar beach.

Filed by senior journalist Devika Sequeira. High court admitted it after brief hearing. The next hearing would be next week, as the court is closed this week due to threat of coronoa virus.

Devika Sequeira’s main argument is that the proposed memorial of Parrikar is contrary to the report prepared by Dr Nandkumar Kamat on privatization of Miramar beach.

Parrikar had appointed this committee and he had also accepted the recommendation not to go for privatization. Adovate General Devidas Pangam was also present in the chamber. Adv Rohit Brar D’Sa is arguing for Devika Sequeira.
