Road works in front of GMC hospital causes traffic snarls

Highway works are taking place in front of the Goa medical College at Bambolim. However, the authorities have not planned on any service roads and alternate routes as the road work is happening.

This has resulted in major traffic jams, inconveniencing and at times even rpblems for ambulances carrying sick and critical patients to the GMC.

The road is the national highway 66 connecting Panaji to Margao. There is heavy movement of traffic. Patients coming to the hospital from one side have to wait for several minutes to cross over to the other side. Concrete is poured from the mixer parked on the road, thus narrowing the road even more. As a result, traffic movement has become a pain.
