PWD clears Shivaji statue at Usgao; locals express angst

The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed at Tisk in Usgao Junction by unknown persons was removed on Friday morning by the PWD with police protection.
The statue was installed on February 20th, last month.
The order was passed by Ponda Deputy Collector Vishal Kundaikar following complaints by Usgao Ganjem Panchayat, PWD, and Electricity Department about the illegal installation of the statue at a public place.
However, locals expressed their unhappiness over the development saying that they were not taken into confidence by the government.
They met the PMC chairperson on the issue.
