Migrants, Tradition occupation & infrastructure issues rocks Benaulim Gram Sabha

Issues related to Migrants, infrastructure, unemployment and socio economic dominated the extra ordinary Gram Sabha of Benaulim on Sunday. A resolution was also passed by panchayat to sort out these matters on priority.

The Gram Sabha after deliberating on the migrant issue resolves as under, that the village is plagued by uncontrolled migration from other States, which besides burdening the available limited infrastructure, is causing demographic, cultural and socio-economic issues in the village.  The very identity of a Goan is at risk. They also  added that  illegal activities carried on by the migrants, like drug peddling, prostitution and criminal intimidation must be investigated by the law enforcing authorities and the persons responsible should be booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
