Locals stopped work of Railway double tracking at Arossim on Thursday. They demanded the resignation of Alina Saldanha and 11 Congress MLAs who entered BJP recently. However Alina says will continue to oppose the projects despite being part of ruling Government.

The works of the double tracking were stopped amidst protest by the people. Sarpanch of Cansaulim Jose Mario Furtado said that the gram sabha of Cansaulim had opposed the double tracking from the start . He also demanded Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha not to protest the tracks while being soft on the government and come out clear on her stand on the projects.

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha said that she will continue to oppose the project and also said that the police must not intimidate people but protect them. Alina also questioned how material can be dumped at Arossim when the Railways Union minister had said that he would arrive in Goa and have discussion with the CM on the project. Saldanha also said that she was tired to see the Government determined to take up the projects despite opposition from the people.

On the other hand, South Goa Congress MP Francisco Sardhina said that government should hear the voice of the people. He said that in case the Government fails to hear their voice, Goans know what to do.
