21 Ganjem villagers held for protesting against mobile tower

On Wednesday, Ponda Police detained 21 villagers including 12 women from Ganjem Usgao for obstructing the work of tower installation.
Villagers have been opposing the installation of Jio tower since the last few months.
They had also approached Directorate of Panchayat over the issue but to no avail.
On Wednesday when Jio officials came to the site to carry out the installation work under the Police protection, villagers tried to obstruct the work and demonstrated protest unfolding high drama the site.
Following which they were held by the Ponda Police.
The work of installation is currently underway despite the objection of the local
Ponda PI Harish Madkaikar and DySP Mahesh Gaonkar refused on-cam statement.
