Once again a big confusion over Mhadei issue. Karnataka claims Supreme Court has directed the centre to notify the award of Mhadei tribunal. Goa government claims the hearing would start from 15th of July. And media reports from Delhi say that the award cannot be implemented until the final order is passed. No order is found on the Supreme Court website.

In reality, all the three states of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra have opposed the tribunal’s award of distributing Mhadei water.

Hearing on these applications started from Thursday in the Supreme Court.

While no authentic reports are coming from the official sources of the apex court, union mines minister and Karnataka MP Pralhad Joshi tweeted that SC has notified the award given by Mhadei tribunal.

He also claims that this would meet long standing demand of Karnataka.

But on the other hand, Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant tweeted that Supreme Court has agreed to hear Goa petition on 15th of July.

Along with Karnataka and Maharashtra, Goa had also challenged the tribunal award of water distribution.

And when we contacted Water Resouces Minister Philip Neri Rodriguese, this is what he said.

The Progressive Front of Goa has reacted to this, claiming that the interim order has gone in favour of Karnataka because Goa did not argue on Thursday.

And it’s an internal conspiracy within the BJP to get an order in favour of Karnataka.

However, sources in Goa government claim that Goa would be heard on 15th July and only Karnataka was heard on Thursday.

The Supreme Court agreed to notify the tribunal award when Karnataka argued how the whole matter could be heard when the award is not even notified.

That’s why the interim order was passed to notify it, but it cannot be implemented.
