Police driver Ujesh Naik and constable Mahendra Gosavi were suspended by Sp South Arvind Gawas on Monday for manhandling photo journalist Soiru Komarpant. The two are attached to the Fatorda police department.

The photojournalist was on an assignment at the KTC bus stand when he was accosted by the Duo. Despite identifying himself, he was held by the collar and pushed into a police van and taken to the police station.

Soiru has filed a complaint, and both the Goa Union of Journalists and the South Goa Union of Journalists had condemned the act and complained to the South Goa SP and the higher up at police headquarters. Soiru claims that the police told him that journalists are not supposed to take photographs of the police. And they forced him to delete the photos.
