Two most interesting things happened at Pollem check post in Canacona on Thursday night. Police arrested five Keralites crossing Goa border with demonetised currency notes of 1000 rupees, worth 1 crore 48 lakhs. And one constable on duty claimed he refused to take a bribe of 1.5 lakh rupees from them and arrested them. The higher officials call this act as indiscipline and he would be issued a memo for sharing his act on the social media.

According to DySP Kiran Paudwal, these five Keralites from Kasargaud were contacted by three Goans to exchange these banned 1000 Rs notes.

They were apprehended at Pollem check post in Canacona on Thursday night. All five are arrested and police are on a lookout of the three Goans who made this deal.

Meanwhile, police constable Bhagwan Sawant, who was on duty at Pollem, posted this incident on social media, claiming that he refused to accept a bribe of one and a half lakh rupees offered by this gang of five.

But he was not given due credit. While people started congratulating him for his brave act, his higher ups says this was a team work and taking individuals credit amounts to indiscipline. Watch Paudwal’s argument.
