The formalin-in-fish controversy has erupted once again in the state. Even though Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao has asked people not to eat fish during the ban as it is unsafe, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane says Churchill is uneducated on facts and asserts that there are stringent checks at the borders and declares the fish brought in is safe to eat. But is the fish sold in Goan markets really safe?

Goa 365 went fishing markets in Panaji and Ponda to check for ourselves whether the fish being sold is screened for formalin or not. The fish vendors are not too sure of this fact but they say it is being checked at Margao.

The Health Minister reacted to Churchill's statement and said Churchill is clueless of what is happening in the sate. He said this is what happens when people remain in opposition for too long. Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao who had earlier appealed Goans to refrain from eating fish while the ban is in force hit back at Vishwajit for calling him uneducated on facts. He said he is much more knowledgable than Vishwajit on fishing matters.
