Margao fish market wore a deserted look one Day 3 since Thursday’s early morning raid over formalin testing.

While the whole state was left guessing whether fish on our plate is safe to eat or not, the government will soon make spot testing kit which detects Formalin on fish available in the market .

Health Minister also promises stringent measures. But right now the business is affected. Not just of fisherfolks across Goa but also the hoteliers. Here’s the whole report

On day 3, this is how Margao fish market looked. Empty, no buyers, full trays or fish and trucks transporting fish on stationary. Vastly different from usual hustle bustle.

The hoteliers are affected too. People are opting for poultry and meat over fish.

The apprehension prevails. The hoteliers now demand that the imported fish from other states must be immediately banned.

The government has assured to take all measures. A simple, cost-effective Rapid Detection Kit to detect presence of artificially induced formalin in fish is expected to be made available within the next 10 days.

Curtorim MLA Reginaldo appeals each one to own the kit.

TCP Minister Vijai says soon FDA  office space will be provided  in the SGPDA  market to check the quality. Not just of fish but also fruits and vegetable.
