Street lights do not work on the Siolim-Chopdem bridge

19 Jul 2018 07:25 PM

For the past seven months, street lights on the Siolim-Chopdem bridge are not functioning.

The bridge is used by a lot of tourist.

Day time the traffic police stand at the bridge to challan traffic violators but come sunset it is pitch dark on the bridge.

That’s not all.

The place where the traffic police park their interceptor vehicle to check speed is also the spot where hotels dump their garbage.

A social worker of the area has raised the issue and has asked the government to fix the street  lights problem.

The area falls in Siolim constituency and social worker Rajan Ghate questioned the MLA  why he has kept the bridge in darkness for so long  even though he is a minister.

The bridge is used by a large number of tourists.

 There is hope though.

A new contractor  of street lights  has just taken over.

He  has begun to fix the light problem.
