Stop recruiting only Sattari people in GMC, Cong MLA tells Vishwajit

We need people from our constituencies employed in the new hospital.



Employess should not be just from Sattari like in Goa Medical College, Bambolim.

This was the tongue and cheek comment by the St Andre MLA Francisco Silveira which was replied to in the same vein by the chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

They were speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new super specialty hospital Block to come up next to the GMC.

Tuesday was the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new 520 room super specialty hospital that is to come up on a 53,000 sq mt plot next to the GMC.

The total project cost is 386 crore rupees. The Hospital is under the proposed Pradhan Mantri Swatiya Suraksha Scheme.

Also present at the ceremony were the Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, MPs Vinay Tendulkar and Narendra Sawaikar and MLAs Francisco Silveira and Antonio Fernandes.

The Health Minister said that he would make the GMC and its super specialty wing the best hospital in the state as well the first choice of people.

He also said that the digitalization of all hospital records would be taken up this year.
