21 Jun 2018 06:58 PM

The government has been forced into action after audacious instances of rape and almost daily incidents of drowning.

The government is now proposing high mast lighting, CCTVs, increased policing and other such facilities on the beaches.

There is even a suggestion of putting a gate at the entrance of the beaches.

But that is still to be cleared at local levels.

The Tourism department will ensure that all the beaches will get the required infrastructure.

In the first stage beaches like Dona Paula, Colva, Benaulim will get the facilities.

The South Goa Collector Anjali Sherawat met with local representatives to discuss the security issue at Betalbatim.

The meeting at which were also present Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’ Sa and police decided that high masts will be installed and police will have an increased presence as well have interaction with locals as part of confidence-building measures.
