Govt may impose taxes later to recover budget deficit

30 Jan 2019 07:30 PM

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has not proposed any taxation measures to bring the Goan economy out from its fiscal deficit option.

Economic analyst and senior journalist Prakash Kamat says additional taxes could be imposed later.

In that sense, this budget does not reflect what Goans have to face tomorrow.

Goa 365 had a preliminary discussion on the budget presented by Parrikar through a programme Assembly Audit. Economic analyst and the Kamat who is also the  Assistant Editor of Hindu explained how the budget is showing fiscal deficit, though it has also shown revenue surplus.

And the deficit needs to be recovered through taxation, which is not shown in this budget.
