Govt is broke, salaries paid through Infrastructure funds: Opposition

04 Feb 2020 08:12 PM

The opposition alleged that the government is broke, in a debt trap and had used 859 crore rupees earmarked for infrastructure to pay salaries.

It also accused the government of giving different replies to different people on questions related to the economic situation in the state.

The government is borrowing to pay off earlier interest and loans, not for infrastructure. It is 24,000 crore in debt.

And even as that is happening the centre has reduced the state share of central funds due form 3300 crore by 820 crore rupees. The Leader of Opposition Digambar wanted to know why there was a need to borrow if there was a revenue surplus.
