Congress has objected to land conversions being allowed under 16 B saying that the matter is sub judice.

The Congress said that on 10th January the court has passed interim order stating that those indulging in zone change will be subject to the outcome of this petition.

Congress spokesperson Tulio D'souza said TCP Minister Vijay Sardessai has issued guidelines for zone change under 16 B.

He alleged that paddy fields, khajans and forest areas are being converted through this amendment.

He gave examples that a forest area has been converted at Cortalim before this guidelines was issued.

Congress has also criticized Design Advisory Panel formed by TCP Minister Vijay Sardessai to maintain architectural heritage of Goan houses.

Tulio says TCP ministers has increased the FAR and building heights above 16 mtrs in ODP and conservation areas.

This will clash with actual spirit of heritage houses.

Congress has also lashed out at Vijay for giving builders FAR benefits to plant coconut trees.

Tulio said there is no proper agriculture policy to boost coconut production.

FAR benefits won't help the sagging coconut production.
