Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated 300 crore rupees for Goa to celebrate 60 years of liberation this year in the Union budget.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had sought 100 crore rupee from the central government to celebrate the 60 years but received more.

To celebrate 60 years of Goa's liberation from the Portuguese rule, the state government has planned various programmes across Goa for a year.

The government has decided to repair and renovate freedom fighters' monuments and historic sites using these funds.
