3 lakes in state declared as wet lands; 14 more lakes in piepeline: Cabral

Xeldem lake, Nanda lake in Quepem and Dashi lake in Revoda has been declared as wetlands. While, 14 more lakes including Bondvol lake would be declared as wet land after 60 days of filing suggestions and objections.



 Also the high tide line in CZMP has been restricted to sea line, Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral said.


Wetland board meeting was convened on Wednesday.


Chairman of three bodies Mangrove, Khajan and fishing village in CZMP Dr Simon, Environment Secretary, North and South Goa collector were present.


546 lakes will be indentified for wetlands in 1 years time.


A buffer zone will be marked for the wetlands and certain activities will be allowed beyond buffer zone.


Cabral also said the CZMP is in final process and it will be uploaded on environment department portal to give suggestions.


Fishermen dwellings within 100-200 mtrs will now have to approach only to panchayat to seek NOC for their activities instead of approaching CRZ.
