Markets bloom with matoli, decorative items

There’s hustle bustle in the market ad there are only 2 days left for the Chovoth. Markets are full of decorative items and matoli items. This year too Chovoth will be celebrated under cloud of coronavirus. The Margao Municipality has issued guidelines for the celebrations.



Matoli is the integral part of the Chovoth celebrations. The matoli comprises of various fruits, vegetable, herbs and shrubs, wild flowers etc. These are tied up above the Ganesh idol. However, this year prices of everything have gone up. Vendors blame the recent heavy rains for the price increase. The vendors also complained they are also facing losses due to restriction due to coronavirus pandemic.

MMC Chairperson Agnelo Fernandes said municipality had completed all arrangements at Ganesh Immersion points and garbage management is also done. He has appealed everyone to celebrate chovoth by following SOPs.
