The new education policy of the central government was hotly debated during the question hour of the first day of the budget session on Wednesday. The opposition expressed confusion over the implementation of the new policy in the state. The opposition demanded a one day session to discuss this new policy.
NCP MLA Churchill Alemao asked whether the new policy would
snatch administrative rights of aided and diocesan schools. Chief Minister
Pramod Sawant refuted this. However, Congress MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco
alleged that under this policy diocesan schools cannot appoint their own
principal. Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte said impact assessment of policy has
not been not done as age group is changing and management of schools are
confused. MGP's Ramakrishna Sudin Dhavalikar wanted clarity on technical
education in new policy.
