Are the good old days back? We are talking in terms of the fresh fish season that has re-started in Goa.

After the ban on fish imports was lifted, the trucks carrying fish from other states entered through two checkpoints, Patradevi (North Goa) and Pollem (South Goa) under a strict FDA watch.

After 15 long days, the fish imports in Goa have begun. The fish trucks from other states were unloaded in Margao’s fish market.

While the retail fish vendors breathed a sigh of relief but they want the government to strengthen to post FDA officials not just at the check points but also in the market premises.

This they say would showcase as a confidence-building measure.

Meanwhile, Goa365 traveled to South Goa entry point at Pollem. [00016] A team of FDA was seen carrying out the thorough check before the trucks entered into the state.

According to new government guidelines, they require clearance certificate from their home state or Goa FDA.

The permits will also be renewed timely. Few activists from Canacona asked the government to focus not just on the fish but also fruits and vegetables.
