Rs 108.43 Cr loss by Mines department: CAG

CAG report tabled in the house on Friday pulled up the Mines department for failing to correctly assess the amount of stamp duty and registration fee amounting to a loss of 108.43 crore rupee loss.



The report also pointed out loopholes identifying beneficiaries under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme and Griha Aadhar Scheme.

It says prescribed eligibility criteria of age and income didn’t meet. The report also stresses on strengthening the monitoring and internal control systems.

 Another point that came up was the acceptance of Urban Development Dept for setting up a plant for conversion of waste plastics into fuel without any competition for 15 crore rupee project resulting in undue favor to a company.

Meanwhile, State expenditure has increased by 22% for the year 2016-17 as compared to the previous financial year. But the revenue raised by the state government during last financial year has also raised by 73%. 

According to CAG report, total expenditure of State increased from Rs 9,013 Cr in 2014-15 to Rs 10,976 Cr in 2016-17. Revenue expenditure has increased by 20 percent from Rs 7410 Cr in 2014-15 to Rs 8,866 Cr in 2016-17.
