Former chief minister Ravi Naik on Friday took the government to task on the issue of investors brought to Goa not adhering to their promise of assuring jobs for locals. He also charged that government has spent crores of rupees on consultants while hardly 3000 jobs are created while assuring 28000 jobs from 193 projects.

Industries Minister Vishwajeet Rane admitted that many projects approved by the Investment Promotion Board could not go through. CM Pramod Sawant added that he will review the whole purpose of IPB by convening a meeting of the board after Assembly session. The issue of paying interest to the promoters of Special Economic Zone also came up for discussion.

Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat pointed out that cabinet has no powers to bypass the law and decide to pay interest to the SEZ investors. Vishwajeet however felt that more important was getting the SEZ land back after reaching a settlement.
